Ra’ed Elmurib served as the executive vice president of corporate and business development at PMC-Sierra, leading the company’s non-organic growth and strategic partnerships. Ra’ed led the $2.5 billion sale of PMC-Sierra to MicroSemi in January, 2016. He also served as the vice president of worldwide sales at PMC-Sierra, managing a team of over 100 members and $300 million in revenue. Prior to PMC-Sierra, Ra’ed was CEO and Co-Founder of Unitec Sales, a manufacturer representative firm serving customers including STMicroelectronics, Microchip, and other component suppliers.

Role: Software Architect
Location: Sunnyvale, CA

As the software architect, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development and evolution of the software architecture of the Shoof system.  This includes working with the CEO, CTO, and customers to align customer requirements to the Shoof product roadmap.  The Shoof technology stack consists of hardware, firmware, mobile application, and cloud applications.You will be architecting and delivering solutions for large-scale deployments for some of the largest industrial companies in the world.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate the domain technical and business discussions relative to future architecture direction across the product portfolio or product line.
  • Analyze design and develop a roadmap and implementation plan based upon a current vs. future state in a cohesive architecture viewpoint.
  • Review and/or analyze and develop architectural requirements at domain level within product portfolio or team.
  • Contribute to the development of software and data delivery platforms that are service-oriented with reusable components that can be orchestrated together into different methods for different businesses.
  • Lead the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support actives.

Required Technical Skills

  • Experience as a software architect, creating and promoting architectural initiatives, balancing long-term strategy with short-term customer needs.  Natural ability to speak and write effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Experience building real-time data architecture and best practices. Familiarity with Kafka/Kinesis, Hadoop/Spark, DynamoDB/Cassandra, Redshift/Vertica, etc.

Develop, enhance, and maintain embedded systems, algorithms, and firmware for Shoof products.

  • Collaborate with others to design, change, and improve existing and future Shoof products.
  • Perform system-level analysis, characterization, and failure analysis of Shoof products.
  • Contribute to architecture, interface, and requirements definition in current and future products.
  • Develop RTOS firmware and/or bare metal environments for ARM (Cortex-M0/M4) based embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with C, embedded Linux, Python, etc.

We are looking for an experienced technologist who loves data, cloud infrastructure, algorithms and are interested in exploring ML/AI. You are highly skilled at developing high-performing data ingestion systems and APIs, and equally passionate about insights gleaned from, and the problems solved with our unique data set. You will play a pivotal role architecting, implementing and deploying the backend system. You will have a broad set of responsibilities involving how we build, deploy, diagnose, monitor, scale and secure the Shoof platform.

Job Purpose:

You will be responsible for the end-to-end development and evolution of the complete architecture for target customer solutions which includes hardware reference platform definition and development, corresponding firmware development, mobile software development and Shoof Cloud ™ development and data center uptime.

In this role, the VP of System Engineering (VPSE) will need to work closely with the CEO, CTO, Product Marketing, and Operations leads as well as key Customers to match customer requirements to the Shoof product roadmap. The Shoof technology stack consists of hardware, firmware, mobile application, and a highly available Cloud.

The ideal candidate will have strong organization leadership skills – with the ability to drive both the architectural vision, working with the CTO, and the on-time deliverables of the engineering team. The VPSE will need to develop a high confidence schedule to achieve the milestones with clear sub-milestones and deliverables for the engineering team to meet objectives. The VPSE should also be able to anticipate and avoid technical issues and facilitate a positive working environment.

Additionally, the VPSE will need both strong operational skills (schedule management, team motivation and coaching and management of the Engineering budget).
